Choosing a monitor for study or work
Size, resolution and panel type, explained simply.
Updated 10 October 2026
For study and office work, a 24 to 27 inch monitor is the sweet spot. 1080p is fine at 24 inches, and 1440p looks sharper at 27 inches.
IPS panels give good colours and viewing angles. VA panels have deeper contrast. OLED looks amazing but costs more. A 60Hz screen is fine for study, so choose 120Hz or higher only for gaming.
A USB-C port that charges your laptop and shows the screen over one cable is very handy. Check that the stand adjusts for height, and read independent test results before you buy.

A bigger screen will not do your assignment for you, but it makes procrastinating look much nicer. 😂
